Welcome

North Wales Wild Bird Care is a passionate group of like-minded volunteers united by a shared love and respect for the wild birds of our region. Based in North Wales, we are particularly dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of gulls — birds that are often misunderstood, yet play a vital role in our coastal and inland ecosystems. When these remarkable birds are injured or in distress, we are here to help.

Our Mission

Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and release wild birds across North Wales, with a particular focus on injured gulls. From herring gulls and lesser black-backed gulls to black-headed gulls and beyond, our volunteers respond to calls with care, compassion, and the specialist knowledge needed to give every bird the best possible chance of returning to the wild where it belongs.

How We Help

Gulls face a wide range of threats — fishing line entanglement, vehicle collisions, predator attacks, and ingestion of harmful materials, to name just a few. When an injured gull is found, our volunteers provide immediate first aid, safe transportation, appropriate shelter, and the ongoing care each individual bird needs to recover.

Get Involved

North Wales Wild Bird Care relies entirely on the dedication of our volunteers and the generosity of our supporters. If you’ve found an injured gull or other wild bird, if you’d like to volunteer, or if you’d simply like to support our work, we’d love to hear from you. Together, we can give North Wales’s gulls the second chance they deserve.
